PRP is defined as a volume of autologous plasma that has a platelet concentration above baseline. Due to its ability to induce collagen synthesis by dermal fibroblasts, PRP has been proposed as a promising treatment option in the field of skin care applications, including alopecia, scar revision (keloids, or traumatic scars), acne scars, stretch marks, skin rejuvenation, dermal augmentation, etc. For some indications, PRP may be used in association with other treatment modalities such as laser, radiofrequency, or fat grafting to improve clinical outcomes.
